With Elmer the colourful elephant as our theme, Children and staff at Charter celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 5th March 2020 by coming to school dressed in as many different bright colours as possible. There was an abundance of colours on display with all children taking part in a whole school reading assembly.
Every class used ‘The Great Paper Caper’ by Oliver Jeffers as the basis of their work for World Book Week. Some of our upper Key Stage 2 pupils re-wrote the story from the perspective of the Bear, whilst others took on a scientific approach to work out what is needed for a paper airplane to take flight.
To help celebrate World Book Day, children were also tasked with creating their our ‘Story Jars’ based on their favourite books. We had everything from Supertato and Tiddler, to Harry Potter and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Our jars were put on display in our new working area and were admired by everyone as children tried to guess the story.
