Charter Primary School in Wood Lane Chippenham was awarded the Investors in People Silver award for demonstrating a degree of excellence in the way they develop and support their staff.
The Silver award is achieved by just 2.5% of Investors in People recognised organisations in the UK. The Investors in People Standard is awarded to well-run organisations, which demonstrate good management practice with a high emphasis on best practice people management and development.
Recipients of the Silver award, of which there are some 550 in the country, go beyond the minimum requirements and demonstrate an additional 76 or more pieces of evidence needed to achieve the Investors in People core Standard.
Sarah Flack, Head of Charter Primary School which has some 50 employees, said: “This award is a celebration of the hard work and dedication undertaken by all staff at Charter school. Everyone in the organisation should be very pleased with the outcomes of the assessment. This award demonstrates that the staff of Charter Primary school are well equipped to offer excellent service to our pupils”.
John Telfer, Managing Director of Inspiring Business Performance Ltd (IBP), the Investors in People Centre for London and the South of England, said: “Being presented with the Silver award is a well deserved achievement and demonstrates the high value Charter Primary school places on staff development. I hope organisations are encouraged by this example to work towards the Investors in People Standard, which can help to enhance competitiveness, boost turnover and increase staff retention.”
Research shows that organisations of any type and size that adopt a comprehensive approach to people development perform better than those without, indicated by higher gross profits per employee, higher profit margins and higher productivity. Companies that have achieved the Investors in People Standard also have higher levels of trust, co-operation and commitment than their competitors.
